About PaycheckByState
Last updated September 29, 2026
PaycheckByState is a free take-home pay resource for workers in the United States. We turn the tax rules that apply to your paycheck — federal income tax, Social Security, Medicare, state and local taxes, and state payroll programs such as disability insurance and paid family leave — into calculators and plain-English state guides.
What we publish
- A paycheck calculator for salary and hourly workers, with W-4, 401(k), HSA and health-premium options.
- A guide for every state and DC: tax brackets, deductions, minimum wage, pay-frequency rules, withholding forms, reciprocity agreements and 2026 tax changes.
- Salary pages that show exactly what a given salary becomes after tax in a given state.
How we keep it accurate
Federal withholding follows the IRS's own Publication 15-T tables for 2026. State and local figures are stored with the source they came from and the date we reviewed them, and our calculator is tested against hand-worked IRS examples. Read the full methodology and our editorial policy, including how we handle corrections.
Who writes it
Our guides, state pages and methodology carry the byline of Thomas M., a Registered Investment Adviser in South Carolina who launched his own financial advisory firm in 2010. Every figure still traces to the official source listed on the page.
Who runs the site
PaycheckByState is operated by Hindustan Prime, a partnership firm registered in India (Village Mawaiya, Chakiya, Chandauli, Uttar Pradesh — 232102). You can reach us any time on our contact page.
What we are not
We are not a payroll provider, tax preparer or law firm, and we don't give personal tax advice. Our numbers are estimates to help you plan; your employer's payroll system and your tax return are what count. See the disclaimer.
