Our standard
Every number on PaycheckByState should be traceable to an official or clearly identified source. Each page lists its sources and shows when its figures were last reviewed.
How we source
- Primary sources first: IRS publications, state revenue departments, the U.S. Department of Labor and the Social Security Administration.
- Secondary sources (tax-policy organisations, payroll-industry compilations) are used when a primary source is impractical, are labelled as such, and are cross-checked where we can.
- We test calculator output against hand-worked IRS examples before releasing changes.
Updates
We review federal and state figures each January and whenever a significant rate, bracket or minimum-wage change takes effect. The review date on each page reflects the last time its data was checked.
Corrections
If you find an error, email [email protected] with the page URL and, ideally, an official source. We investigate reports promptly, fix confirmed errors and update the page's review date. Material corrections are noted on the page.
Independence and advertising
PaycheckByState is funded by advertising. Ads are labelled, appear separately from our content and never influence our figures, rankings or recommendations. We do not accept payment to change how a state or product is presented. If we add affiliate links in future, they will be disclosed clearly.
Automation and quality
Many pages are generated from our tax database so that every state and salary uses identical, tested calculations. Generated pages must contain unique, computed information — we do not publish placeholder or duplicate pages.
Who is responsible
Content is produced and reviewed by the PaycheckByState editorial team at Hindustan Prime. We are not a licensed tax advisor; see the disclaimer.
